Beta Version 4.4.900 Released

Postby Avarin » Mon Apr 05, 2010 1:51 pm

The beta release of StrataSearch Version 4.5 is now available for download. This release provides full compatibility with Windows Vista and Windows 7, as well as additional support for 64-bit processors.

Because this release moves the StrataSearch data to an alternate Windows Directory, it is not being offered as an upgrade. Instead, users can run the new installation, import data from prior installations, and convert to this new installation after verification is successful.

For information on how to install this beta release, please visit this link:

Current users wishing to import data from prior installations should see the following link for instructions:

The following are the primary revisions that have been made in this release:

* All StrataSearch Data is now placed in the Windows Common Documents folder. This ensures compatibility with Windows Vista and Windows 7 User Account Control (UAC) requirements. StrataSearch no longer needs to be run as an Administrator with this release.

* Only one installation is now needed to run multiple instances of StrataSearch. StrataSearch now uses "Data Folders", and users can identify which Data Folder should be used at program startup. See Data Folders in the Terms and Definitions chapter of the help for more information.

* A new memory model has been implemented, allowing StrataSearch to have access to significantly more memory than in prior versions. Users that run StrataSearch against large sectors and/or with large Evaluation Periods should notice a significant increase in memory allowances.

* A new protocol has been implemented for Yahoo and MSN price imports. Proxies are now supported, as well as many other scenarios.

* Default Dates have been revised for Yahoo and MSN imports, allowing importing of current data without the need for First Date revisions.

* A correction was made when right-clicking on a result in the Combination Results Listing and selecting Create Signal. In some cases, a program lockup had been occurring, but this has now been corrected.

* A correction was made to the Simple Moving Average formula. In certain scenarios where complex calculations were having an SMA performed on them, the calculation was corrupting. This has been corrected.

* A new trial period has been implemented. Users of prior StrataSearch trials can run this trial on the same computers for the full 30 days.

* Recalculation of Forex minimum tick values. The automatic calculation of minimum tick values for forex was not always correct in prior releases, forcing users to manually enter the correct value. This automatic calculation has been improved, allowing minimum ticks to be properly calculated in most instances. Users should still enter the Setups > Price and Symbol Setups to verify their minimum tick values for forex rates.
