Long and Short combined

StrataSearch will find what you tell it to, but what should that be? Will the same criteria work across different Sectors? Different time periods? Here we discuss the ins and outs of OneClick Searches.

Long and Short combined

I am looking for a OneClick Search Configuration where 2 strategies (one long and one short) are found for one single symbol. How can I configure it such that not 2 long or 2 short strategies but a mix is found?

It's not possible to force a certain number of long and short strategies. Instead, StrataSearch automatically looks for the highest scoring combination of strategies, regardless of whether they are long short.

The best approach to what you want, however, is to search for one side first, and then lock that strategy before continuing the search on the other side. To do this, set your OneClick Search so that the Number of Strategies will be 1. Search for a long strategy first, but make sure you do not have a Percent In Market that is too high, or there won't be time available for trading short.

When you've found a good strategy, enter the Setups > Multi-System Setups box. Update your OneClick's setup, and then update the system. You can then check the "Lock System In Place" box, and that system will not be replaced even if a higher score is discovered.

You can then increase your OneClick's Number of Strategies to 2, change it to search for Short strategies, and let it continue to run. It will then search for a short strategy to match your existing long strategy.

Hopefully this points you in the right direction.
