Charting Distribution day

Postby taowave » Wed Sep 05, 2012 4:49 pm

Hi Pete,

I am trying to code up a distribution code where there are at least 4 down days with volume 1.3x the 30 day moving average over the last 10 periods.I think I coded it correctly

distribution=hadalert(c<ref(c,1) and volume>1.3* mov(volume,30,s),10)>4.

How can I plot the distribution days on a chart?

Thanks,

Allan

I would recommend you first test and finalize your formula in the Display > Calculations menu. This will let you verify that it is producing the numbers you want. As an example, you might want your formula to produce the number of days out of the last 10 in which this even is happening (as opposed to creating 1 when the even has occurred 4 out of the last 10 days and 0 when it has not). For that, you would use this portion of your formula:

hadalert(c<ref(c,-1) and volume>1.3* mov(volume,30,s),10)

Notice that I changed the offset value to -1 in your ref() formula.

To add a value to a chart, this is best described in the StrataSearch Help. In the Charts chapter, I would recommend reading the pages on "Working with Panels" and "Working with Calculations". Tutorial #2 also has a section on "Working With Charts" that might be helpful.
