New Yahoo/MSN Symbol Lists with ETFs

Postby Overload » Mon May 04, 2009 10:26 am

ETFs have become a very popular collection of trading products, and we've had a number of requests to expand our symbol lists to include more of them. With the current symbol list updates, we've added over 800 ETF symbols to the Yahoo and MSN price imports, and categorized them into over 35 new sectors such as Bear Market, Large Cap Value, Diversified Emerging, and Specialty-Technology.

With the new symbol lists, all ETFs will now be designated with a unique Exchange named "ETF". This new designation will allow ETFs to more easily be included or excluded in specific searches.

StrataSearch users that import prices from Yahoo or MSN, or use our ASCII sector definitions, can download and install the latest symbol lists by visiting this link:

http://www.stratasearch.com/symbols.html

Users that import prices from other sources (such as Quotes Plus) can still take advantage of the ETF Sectors by using the File > Import Sectors menu, selecting ASCII as the Source Type, and clicking the Filter button to include only the ETF sectors. Make sure you check the "Keep Existing Sectors" box on the Import Sectors window so that the ETF sectors will be included alongside your existing setups rather than replacing them.

We hope this proves to be a helpful addition, but please let us know if you have any questions or experience any problems.
