Version 3.2.0 Released

An upgrade to Version 3.2.0 is now available. The following primary changes were made in this release:

* New Version Numbers. To help facilitate beta releases and build versions, an expanded Version Control system has been implemented. The StrataSearch version numbers will now be in the format XX.YY.ZZZ. XX is the Major Version Number, currently 3. YY is the Minor Version Number, which will increase when enhancements are made. ZZZ is the Build Version Number, which will increase as corrections or other small changes are made. Beta releases will have a Build Version Number in the range of 900-999. See the Help > About menu for information on your current version.

* Multi-Processor Support. When running general searches, multiple processors will now be used. This processing is turned on by default, but can be turned off with a new switch in the System Settings, General tab. There is no limit to the number of processors that can be used to speed your processing.

* Windows Vista Ready. StrataSearch has now been fully tested and is now supported for Windows Vista.

* Early Yahoo Prices. If you use the free pricing services of Yahoo or MSN, you've noticed that StrataSearch only pulls prices from their archive database. Because of this, prices may not be available until 8 or more hours after the markets close. There is now a switch on the Import Prices dialog that will allow the importing of "current prices." In short, this allows the retrieval of the current 20-minute delayed prices from Yahoo. Thus, you can now pull current EOD prices as early as 30 minutes after market close.

* New Parameter Shift Analysis. StrataSearch now contains an integrated method for testing surrounding parameter sets. Results of this analysis can be displayed in the Detailed Analysis, or implemented in OneClick filtering. Visit the Help for Advanced Features > Parameter Shift Analysis for more information.

* New Alternate Data Analysis. There has been a great deal of discussion on "out of sample" testing. A OneClick Search will now allow you to include up to 3 Alternate Data evaluations in your analysis. These can be alternate time periods or even alternate sectors. Results of this Alternate Data analysis can then be viewed in the Detailed Analysis, or implemented as a selection criteria in the OneClick Search filters. See Advanced Features > Alternate Data Analysis in the Help for more information.

* New Curve-Fit Protection Tab. The OneClick Setups now has a new tab dedicated to curve-fit protection. This tab allows you to quickly see which of the many curve-fit protection mechanisms have been implemented in your OneClick Search. The Help also contains information and examples on how you can implement more protection if desired.

* New Multi-Column Screener. The Screener will now allow you to implement as many as 10 fully-customizable columns to the calculation and display. These can be saved and re-opened as desired. Click the "More" button to the right of the Rank entry in the Screener to add more columns.

* Sector Import Filtering. When importing Sectors, a "Filter" button is now provided that will allow you to specify which sectors will be imported into StrataSearch. By filtering sectors to just the ones that are desired, the time required for Rebuilding Sector Indexes can be greatly decreased. Eliminating unused Sectors from the system will also help eliminate clutter from your setups.

* No More Zacks Popup. The Zacks Popup that used to be seen when opening the Daily Signals Listing has now been eliminated.

* New Trade Returns By Days Held Chart. A new chart has been added to the Detailed Analysis that will display the individual trade returns by the number of days held.

* GTC Sale Notification in Signals. GTC (good-till-cancelled), limit, and stop orders used to disappear directly into the Recent Trades tabs in the Daily Signals Listing when an intraday exit occurred. A trade with an intraday exit will now display in the Sell section of the Daily Signals with the action of "SOLD INTRADAY". This will help users better identify such sales.

* Backups Now Include Custom Formulas. When using the StrataSearch Backup/Restore function, any external DLLs used in Custom Formulas had not been included in the backup. This meant that any and all plug-ins needed to be re-installed after restoring a system. External DLLs will now be included in the backup, so re-installation of the plug-ins will no longer be necessary.

* Portfolio Only Switch Added to Daily Signals. There is already a setting in the Signal Setups to have the Daily Signals Listing display portfolio-only trades. But the Daily Signals Listing now contains a setting as well that will allow quick switching between "portfolio-only" and "all trades" views.

* Trading Rules Now Long/Short Specific. The trading rules have always had a configuration for long or short processing, but previously this was only used for filtering when checking the Always/Random/Never boxes in the AutoSearch Setup. Now, however, this long/short designation ensures that a trading rule will only be used for the side in which it was intended. Thus, a long rule will only be used in long strategies. Likewise, a short rule will only be used in short strategies.

* Added switch to temporarily allow missing prices for Signals. By default, Signals processing will receive an error when current prices are missing for alternate symbol references within the systems. In some cases, however, missing prices may be legitimate. For example, the system may be run against the Toronto Stock Exchange stocks, but also references the US-based S&P 500. In those rare cases when there is a holiday in the US but not in Canada, the system should continue with the most recent S&P 500 prices. See the Setups > System Settings menu, Invalid Prices tab for more information.

* Prevent Signal e-mail from line-wrapping in some e-mail clients. Some e-mail clients, including Microsoft Outlook 12, were wrapping the Signal e-mails, making them very difficult to read. This has been corrected to prevent wrapping in those e-mail programs.

* Allow chart indicators to display signals on last day of data. The indicators in the charts were often not displaying on the last day of available data. This has now been corrected.

* Expand use of Refresh button in Daily Signals Listing. The Refresh button in the Daily Signals Listing was not refreshing all information, forcing the user to sometimes have to close and re-open the Daily Signals Listing to refresh everything. The Refresh button has now been expanded to refresh all information.

* Correct Launch of Charts from Detailed Analyis for Indexes. When double-clicking trades from the Trades tab in the Detailed Analysis, the correct symbol often wasn't being found if the symbol was an Index. This has now been corrected.

To install the program update, users can use the Help > Check for Updates menu from within StrataSearch. If any problems are encountered using this method, users may alternately download and run a manual upgrade from:
